Cobb Selected by Texas Rangers in 2026 MLB Draft
WILLISTON, N.D. – Williston State College right-handed pitcher Collin Cobb has added another milestone to an unforgettable baseball career, as he was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 17th round with the 507th overall pick of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft. Cobb now becomes just the fourth MLB Draft selection in the history of the Teton baseball program.
A native of Sugar Land, Texas, Cobb spent the past two seasons wearing the green and black, developing into one of the premier pitchers in junior college baseball.
The 2026 season was nothing short of spectacular for the sophomore right-hander. Cobb earned NJCAA First Team All-America honors after posting a 10-2 record with a 2.18 ERA across 70.2 innings. He struck out 119 batters while consistently dominating opposing lineups and helping lead the Tetons to one of the most successful seasons in program history.
Cobb's selection continues the recent success of Williston State baseball in developing players capable of competing at the highest level.
"I am so happy for Collin and his family," said Williston State head coach Mason Przybilla. "He has worked hard for this and deserves the honor. I have said this before and I will say it again—he is the best pitcher in the history of our long-standing program, and we are proud to call him Our Guy."
While hearing his name called in the MLB Draft is a dream realized, Cobb still has an important decision ahead. The right-hander is currently committed to continue his collegiate career at the University of Arizona next fall but now has the opportunity to begin his professional career after being selected by his hometown state's Major League club. Arizona also has until the signing deadline to determine whether incoming transfer Collin Cobb will join the Wildcats or sign professionally.
Regardless of the path he chooses, Cobb leaves Williston State as one of the most accomplished players in school history. His combination of elite performance, work ethic, and leadership helped elevate the Teton program on the national stage, and his selection in the 2026 MLB Draft adds another chapter to the proud tradition of Williston State baseball.
